NJ Fibershed Barn Crawl - May 13-14 and 20-21, 2023
Smiling Dog Farm is happy to be participating in the NJ Fibershed Barn Crawl in May this year. Last year's Barn Crawl was such a success we decided to do it again! The Barn Crawl features 6 fiber farms throughout New Jersey and will take place on two weekends in May (May 13-14 and 20-21). To give customers more time to visit each farm, the crawl format has been changed - 3 farms will be open the first weekend, and 3 farms will be open the second weekend. Farms will be open for tours, meeting the fiber animals, spinning and weaving demonstrations, and sales of fleece, yarn, honey, plants, and lots of other locally produced farm products. And new this year will be the launch of the NJ Fibershed Fiber-Along 2023. Fiber-Along is a community of makers using fiber and products purchased at participating farms. Joining the Fiber-Along community is free to everyone who attends the Barn Crawl. Members will meet monthly to share their progress, and meet up in person at the Fleece and Fiber Sale in October.
Smiling Dog Farm will be open on May 13 and 14. The farm will be open from 10:00 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day of the crawl.
We will have Gotland fleeces, yarn, dye plants, local honey, hand-crafted beeswax soap and beeswax-based skin care products for sale at the event.
